Nasal Endoscopy

Nasal endoscopy utilizes a nasal telescope to visualize the nose and sinus anatomy in detail. Nasal telescopes are optical instruments that are thin and attached to a bright light and camera. Some telescopes are rigid and others are flexible. We prefer rigid telescopes as the picture quality is superior. In some instances, digitally archived images will be obtained to compare sinus health over a long period of time. Our office is equipped with the latest telescopes, cameras and digital capture equipment.

Nasal endoscopy can be performed in the office and is well-tolerated. Patients are first sprayed with topical decongestants and numbing medicine. The telescope is carefully introduced into the nose and digital images are stored. If there is evidence of infection, pus and debris can be cleaned with special suctions and instruments. Often times, acute infections can be treated with direct topical application of antibiotics and steroids to speed the recovery of your acute sinus infection.
